A very fine Anglais cased carriage clock by the father of the carriage clock – Paul Garnier.

The gilt brass Anglais case is of very high quality.  The top glass is engraved with a very fine monogram.  The original leather outer case also bears the initials ‘C.B’.

The movement is half striking on a gong with repeat and alarm functions.  It is signed ‘Paul Garnier’ and bears the makers stamp.  The movement is numbered 1261.

    This clock is now sold.

1 review for A Very Fine Anglais Cased Carriage Clock by Paul Garnier – SOLD

    1. Jacotson

A superb production retailed by the son of the legendary Paul Garnier whose name was also Paul Garnier. He had his name engraved on the backplate of clocks he retailed (including some by Henri Jacot) and in some cases also on the dial. This example is a carefully-husbanded carriage clock, still retaining it’s original travel case and numbered key. It has a monogram of CB engraved on the underside of it’s top glass, as well as the initials CB marked on the top of the travelcase. Now who in the last but one century liked this clock so much that he had his initials expensively engraved “in reverse” on the underside of the top glass ?? It is a really delightful antique in marvellous condition..
