Ebonised Domed Top Bracket Clock by Walker of Birkenhead.

A substantial domed top bracket clock in Ebonised case signed ‘Rich Jones’.

The case is good quality with Oak carcass and Ebonised Pear and Ebony veneers.  The front aspect of the case is inset with an engraved panel.  The cast brass bezel is ‘Bronzed’ and has a thick bevelled glass.

The 8″ engraved silvered brass dial is of good quality with Roman numerals and engrave ‘Rich Jones’.

The movement is a very good quality single train fusee movement.  It has a chain fusee and recoil anchor escapement.  A particuarly fine detail is the design of the ‘cannon barrel’ pillars. The movement runs for 8 – Days.

The movement is signed by the maker ‘J Walker – Birkenhead’.  Inside the barrel cap bears the inscription ‘J Walker, Maker, Birkenhead, 31 March 1853’  In 1853 Walker was working from his William Street premises in Birkenhead (1846 -55).  Later he moved to Manchester.

The pendulum is a mock Mercury regulator style.
