Engraved Carriage Clock by Alliez and Bergere No. 205

Single piece engraved cased carriage clock by Alliez and Begere No. 205

A very fine example of an 8 – day carriage clock striking half hours on a bell.

The movement is of very fine quality and is in exceptional condition, as is the white enamel dial displaying Roman numerals.  The blued steel hands are not strictly a pair, however the replacement minute hand does not look out of place.

The platform is most interesting having a plain flat gilt brass balance with lever escapement.  The satinised gilt finish appears to be original and is pleasantly different to the usual silvered finish seen on carriage clocks.

The back plate is signed along the bottom ‘Alliez & Bergere Paris’ and is numbered 205.
